What tone should I use in CELPIP Speaking Task 6?
Paragon's exact wording is "considerate but firm", plus "speak in a respectful way". You want to complain or refuse effectively without being rude, and hold your position without apologizing it away.
Which option should I choose, EITHER or OR?
Whichever you can argue more comfortably. Neither is correct, but you must pick one and keep the entire response consistent with that audience.
Should I apologize in CELPIP Speaking Task 6?
You can acknowledge the other side ("I understand the job took longer"), but do not concede the point. The task is to explain and defend a decision, not to back down from it.
Is CELPIP Speaking Task 6 always a complaint?
No. The official description is broader: explain a decision to "a friend, family member, acquaintance, or customer". It can be declining a request, delivering bad news, or turning someone down.
How long is CELPIP Speaking Task 6?
60 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak. The extra preparation time exists because you also have to choose which of two people to address.
Do I need to solve the problem?
You need to outline the problem, state your decision, and support it with reasons. Proposing a fair next step is a strong way to spend your final 10 to 15 seconds, but it is not required.
